About the service

What is the EU Blue Card in Spain

The EU Blue Card is a work and residence permit for highly skilled non-EU nationals, designed to attract talent, first adopted on May 25, 2009, by the European Union. A revised directive (2021/1883) came into force in late 2021 to harmonize rules and improve mobility of high talent.  This card offers expedited entry, equal working conditions, and rights for families.

Thanks to this measure the EU Blue Card is a residence and work authorization designed for highly qualified non-EU nationals who have secured a job offer in Spain that meets specific salary and qualification requirements.

It is designed for:

Highly skilled professionals, university graduates, and individuals with significant professional experience in specialized fields such as IT, engineering, healthcare, and science.

Thanks to it, it allows you to live and work in Spain in a highly qualified position and the great advantage of this permit is that, after a certain period, it allows you to move to another EU country and work there.
